What to bring to residential treatment

A packing list, plus what we'll hold for you

Packing light makes arrival easier. Your admissions coordinator will confirm the details for your program before you come, but this is what most people need.

Bring

  • Photo ID and your insurance card
  • All current medications in their original pharmacy bottles, plus a list of doses
  • About a week of comfortable clothes, including something for exercise and layers for changing temperatures
  • Sleepwear, slippers, and a pair of supportive shoes
  • Toiletries in unopened or alcohol-free containers
  • Phone numbers for the people you want to stay in touch with, written down
  • A notebook, a book, or something you enjoy that does not need a screen

Leave at home

  • Alcohol, drugs, and anything used to take them
  • Products containing alcohol, such as some mouthwashes and hand sanitizers
  • Weapons of any kind, including pocketknives
  • Large amounts of cash, jewelry, or valuables
  • Clothing with drug or alcohol references

What we will hold for you

Medications are checked in with staff at admission and given to you on schedule. Valuables and anything else stored on your behalf are recorded when you arrive and returned when you leave. Your admissions coordinator will walk you through the current rules for phones and visits before you come.

Not sure about something? Bring it and ask. It is easier to send an item home with family than to go without something you need.
